Can someone direct me to the facts about RNIB's track record in supporting and developing new technology?

I would applaud this move if it is intended to support an innovative for-profit company because over the last 30 years they have been far more successful at delivering improvements in technology than the not-for-profit sector.

In fact it is agencies like RNIB that have perpetuated out-dated, retrograde products such as the Perkins Brailler through endorsement and subsidies, and ignoring many new options for Braille that consequently never get the mass market (a very limited one at that)exposure that leads to lower prices and improved products.

My company developed a low cost alternative Braille display several years ago that neither the RNIB nor members of the so-called "cartel" showed the slightest interest it.

This could be a very exciting development however great leadership comes from acknowledging ones own shortcomings.
