Future Democracy '09 is the UK's leading conference on ’e-democracy’: the use of the internet, social networking and other new technologies in politics; consultation; and citizen engagement.

Taking place once again this year at the spectacular headquarters of the Royal Institute of British Architects in Portland Place, central London, on 25 November, we have a superb speaker line-up including analysts, politicians, citizen representatives, people from central and local government, and more.

The event's supporters include The Hansard Society, MySociety and the RSA. Media partners are internet TV channel Catch21, Prospect and Total Politics.

Confirmed speakers include Will Perrin, former technology adviser to Tony Blair, who will present his new Channel 4-funded project developing community websites.

Topical bite will be provided by our session on the role of the internet in opening up the UK Parliament to greater scrutiny in the light of the ongoing MPs' expenses backlash: our panel for this includes Heather Brooke, the FOI Campaigner who instigated the publication of MPs' expenses, and Tom Steinberg, Director of mySociety.

Workshops include 'Digital Campaigning post-Obama', and a session on electronic petitions will look ahead to next year's requirement for all local councils to offer e-petitions.

This is the event of the year for everyone interested in the future of democracy in the internet age. Don't miss out: we set the agenda for others to follow. You can see the full programme, plus attendance costs and other details, at:
