Building Perfect Council Websites - Pics, Slides, Reportage

Reporting, photos and presentations from Headstar's annual event Building Perfect Council Websites 2012, incorporating NHS Web Futures, are now online after this year's successful proceedings.

The event was held in partnership with the Society for IT Management (Socitm), and attracted some 291 delegates. This is a fantastic showing in such tough economic times, proving the event is strongly established as essential for all council web teams that need to keep up with the latest ways to improve services to the citizen in ever more efficient ways. Major stories this year, as covered in Headstar's E-Government Bulletin, include 'Public Bodies Struggling To Cope With Twitter Volume', a report on a workshop led by Glasgow City Council Web and Intranet Manager Gary Hurr, which found that public sector bodies are struggling to respond to the volume of public questions and comments they are receiving through Twitter.

Other coverage includes 'Open Data 'Must Be Set In Context'' - a report on this recurring theme at July's event: the need for data released by public bodies to be set in a meaningful context.

This year the event's parallel NHS stream, 'NHS Web Futures', was bigger than ever and included a preview of Socitm's new research into hospital websites that found that key information is often obscured.

Slides from presentations from most of the event's plenary and other key sessions can now be found on Slideshare.

Meanwhile speaker pics, audience shots, and pictures capturing the buzz and chat at the round table sessions and our exhibition hall can be found on Flickr. Our thanks to Richmond Conference Photography.

Social media coverage can be tracked using our hashtags #bpcw11 and #nhswf11 and were aggregated before, during and after the event on a special sub-site built by Boilerhouse Media.
